A phrase in a recent article has stuck with me:
ideas that are larger than itself
This is in reference to Google. But I think this applies personally as well. Are you motivated by and interested in ideas that are larger than you? This is a key differentiator on a number of points including collaboration, open source, faith, growth, learning, improvement, and humility. The alternative is NIH (not invented here syndrome), closed systems, gatekeeping, and pride.
