Emojis

Emojis are Unicode characters that get rendered as icons or graphics. There are 3790 emojis. Emojis dress up plain text. For example, in Linked-in posts, you can so stuff like the following:

Emojis allow you to put graphics in email titles:

Emojis also allow you to dress up buttons that may only allow text descriptions:

How do you use emojis? One of the simplest ways is to simply keep a collection of the ones you use and copy/paste them when needed. My collection from my notes application is shown below:

Using Perplexity to find emojis

Seems to work pretty well:

On KDE

Press Ctrl+Alt+E to open the emoji picker

Or Alt+space to open krunner and then type “emoji <word>”
