Confusing AI models

Apparently, this question used to confuse quite a few AI models:

I’m getting my car washed. The car wash is 300 feet away. Should I drive there, or walk instead?

It appears the current crop does pretty well.

  1. :white_check_mark: Perplexity:Best: You should drive the car there, because the car itself has to be at the wash to get cleaned; walking alone doesn’t accomplish the task.
  2. :cross_mark: Perplexity:Sonar: Walk to the car wash. At just 300 feet (about 91 meters), it’s a quick 1-minute stroll that’s cheaper, healthier, and avoids unnecessary engine wear.
  3. :white_check_mark: Perplexity:GPT-5.4: Drive there. If you walk, your car stays behind and doesn’t get washed; the basic requirement is that the car itself has to reach the car wash.
  4. :white_check_mark: Perplexity:Gemini 3.1 Pro Thinking: You should drive there. Since you are getting your car washed, you need to bring the car to the car wash. If you walk, your car will still be at home and you won’t be able to get it washed.
  5. :white_check_mark: Perplexity:Claude Sonnet 4.6: Drive the car there — you need the car at the wash to get it cleaned! Walking wouldn’t accomplish anything unless you plan to drop it off and walk back while it’s being washed.
  6. :white_check_mark: Perplexity:Kimi K2.6: 300 feet is only about a 1-minute walk, but the essential point is that you need the car at the car wash for it to be washed. Walking there without the vehicle won’t accomplish your goal.
  7. :white_check_mark: Claude:Opus 4.7: Drive — the car kind of needs to be there for the car wash to work.
  8. :cross_mark: Claude:Haiku 4.5: Walk. At 300 feet, that’s only about a 1–2 minute walk at a normal pace. You’ll save the gas, skip the parking hassle, and get a little movement in. The only reasons to drive would be if you have mobility limitations, it’s severe weather, or you’re in an unusual time crunch—but for a distance that short, walking is the clear win.
  9. :cross_mark: Claude Sonnet 4.6: Walk! 300 feet is barely more than the length of a football field — about a 1-minute stroll. Driving there would mean you’d spend more time buckling your seatbelt than actually traveling, and you’d just be dirtying the car again before it even gets washed.

I like the Claude:Opus 4.7 answer best  The quality of the answer is also interesting; overly verbose does not really add any value.
